Fruits and Veggie List for your Dogs Diet |
Fruits &Veggies:This is a list of recommended foods to enhance your dogs diet through variety. I suggest use in moderation, if there is a loose stool, back off on the amount, especially with puppies. If you want to introduce "flavors" to weaning puppies, baby foods work great for this, just put a little on the end of a spoon and introduce a flavor to the puppy so when they become older they do not turn their nose up at strawberries or carrots when they are offered. yogurt, buttermilk, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, melons, apples, banana, peaches, oranges, garlic, tomatoes, celery, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, squash, sweet potato, green beans, zucchini - minced/diced/raw/cooked/pulverized - they love frozen berries and melon balls!! NOTE: NO raw onions, grapes or raisins, macadamia nuts or chocolate. YES, fresh garlic is ok to use. As a general rule of thumb, I might give a 1/8-1/4 of blueberries to one of my dogs or a handful of baby carrots, or couple chunks of banana - using these as low calorie treats is good too. Rotate, variety is the best way to keep them healthy and not getting bored. Linda's Very Veggie Soup2 large cans of chicken or beef broth - (low sodium for heart or elderly dogs- or homemade broth). Add LOTS of veggies - carrots, green beans, wax beans, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and couple cloves of garlic. The idea is to use this as the filler for dogs with weight issues, so you want it to be hearty and filling. You can use this soup as a filler replacing some of the kibble with
