Shades of Excellence is a reflection of our desire to produce Excellent Quality
blue and black Danes. We have been active in the Great Dane Breed since 1996,
when we purchased our first blue Dane, Magics Shades of Grey. We
are active members of the following organizations: The Great Dane Clubs of America
and Canada, The Greater Hickory Kennel Club, the Ohio Dane Rescue, and the Association
of Great Dane Fanciers in Canada. Our breeding program
is very selective and we breed one litter every two years. Our Goals are to
breed for health, temperament, longevity, and structural soundness. We screen
for Cardio, OFA, Thyroid, and Cataracts. All our puppies go out under
strict contract and/or limited registration whether they are show or companion.
We screen all our prospective adopters to ensure they have what is required
to raise, grow, and maintain a healthy, happy Great Dane for
his/her lifetime. Our first breeding success story is CH Shades A Shot In The
Dark aka "Magnum" who was a singleton puppy. Magnum has taken three
BOB out of winners class in Canada, and one BOB out of winners class in the
US,
owner handled. At ten months he was RWD at the Canadian Dane National, and this
year he was RWD at the American National. Magnum finished his AM CH with a 5
point major in Sarasota FL. beautifully handled by Jeff Lawrence.

Have been involved in dogs since I was 8 years old, started inour local 4-h
club, doing basic obedience, learning about dog care and training. We also got
involved in the seeing eye puppy raising project and successfully trained 3
guide dogs for them. as a teenageer, I was awarded nationally in dog care and
training,and veterinary science through 4-H.
We began raising and showing Golden retrievers, in 1980 and have owned and bred
several champions and a few obedience titled goldens, one a top 10 hall of fame
group winner. My parents had a dane, a brindle male from kitty koyler before
i can even remember him being around, and in high school I worked at a horse
farm that had two huge blue danes, I knew then I wanted one. Busy with the goldens,
we continued and still have two of them 23 yrs later, but haven't shown or bred
them in over 5 years, our hearts are with the danes now. We have had danes only
10 years now, but have had much success, and luck I think, with our breeding
program so far.
We have bred and owned several champions, and have had the pleasure of having
two Top 20 danes. We have been blessed with soundness, health and longevity so
far, and strive to maintain that in each future breedings we do. We stirve to
produce friendly, outgoing, confident, sweet tempered dogs, and screen our breeding
stock for health problems that arise in these areas, hips, eyes, heart, thyroid.
Our pups are sold with written contracts, containing information on their care,
and the warranties we provide on our dogs for hereditary defects. Our dogs are
members of our family, and are raised in our house. Our puppies are born in
our family room, and are socialized from day one. We are proud of what we have
accomplished and contributed so far, to this breed. I belong to several dog
clubs, I am a member of the GSGRC, GRCA (goldens) and am a member and officer
of the GDCRV for the last 8 years, and GDCA. Our hopes are to do enough good
for this breed, and contribute positively to ensure it a healthy future, by
breeding properly and educating the folks who not only buy our pups, but who
we cross paths with as well. They say once you own a dane, you will always have
one, I truly believe that, and can't imagine ever being without one in our lives.

We have owned and loved Great Danes since 1976 and began exhibiting Danes in 1996. We Breed occasionally, Fawn & Brindle with conformation health and Temperament our goal.
Over 28 years as fawn & Brindle breeders , Sunglo Danes is a permanent registered name with the Canadian kennel Club: We classify ourselves as hobby breeders who've achieved our share of success over the years; Breeders of Canadian & American Champions, specialty winners; BPIS & BIS danes, Selectively breeding a litter occasionally, never more than one a year, more likely every two years. All pups are house raised & health clearances are done on dogs prior to using them in our breeding program. We require our contract to be signed by the client prior to purchasing a puppy from us. We stand behind our danes & are available 24/7 to our clients. Pets are sold on a spay neuter or non Breeding contract.Selling to a show minded home is what we want for a promising puppy, but isn't the major requirement for purchasing a dane from us, a loving responsible home for the life of the dog is ! Our home is presently shared with 6 danes, from seniors to youngsters, all are special and part of the family.

I've been in danes now for 21 years, concentrating on fawn and brindles for 19 of those; and adding a black breeding 18 months ago. Will likely keep the 3 colours; do not envisage getting into blue, harl or boston. I breed primarily for exceptional temperament and easy keepers, and try to complement that with beautiful great danes, (pretty heads, good bone and substance). I am committed to increasing longevity in my dogs, I'd love to see all danes live to be at least 10 years of age, and preferably 12 to 13; and my way of going about that was moving to a raw diet, reducing vaccinations, considering alternative treatments in concert with traditional (i.e. using things less chemical/drug based where possible). I'm am on second generation raw fed, had a girl I switched at six years of age live to be 11 1/2, and currently have a 7 1/2 year old at home that has a body and condition of a 5 year old. So I'm optimistic. I give a lot of guidance to new people in the breed, for show and breeding, and particularly to people new to raw feeding. Raw feeding, to me, is a very logical way of feeding our dogs, but it must be done correctly. Done without proper care to balance and variety, it can be just as harmful as a poor quality bag of kibble. I am a member of MyMentors, Showdanes, BlacksNBlues, as well as K9Nutrition, JstSayNo2Vacs, Barfbreeders and various other lists, to ensure I never quit learning or having a chance to share what I have learned.

My breeding program is focused on producing the best possible Great Danes as
defined in the Breed Standard; in looks, health and temperament. I normally
breed only two or three litters a year, and place many puppies in show homes.
I do have some puppies available as family companions, but I am looking for
special, loving homes. If you are interested in a Great Dane puppy, please take
a look at my "Litters" page to see if I have puppies coming up, and
then fill out the questionaire page to provide background information.

I have been breeding and showing Great Danes for 25 years now. In that time
I have owned, bred and finished champion in five colors, In both USA and Canada
as well as Ireland. I first want companion animals I can live
with, secondly I want companions that have a better then breed average chance
of a long healthy life and last I want dogs with a distingusihed look both for
the ring and for my own pleasure. As a geneticist I stress the importance of
health cleanances, OFA on Hips, elbows, patellea should be par for the course,
Eye exams cerfified by CERF are essential, heart check, thyroid function testing
and a general blood and urinaysis should be done before breeding. I have only
bred seven litters, and co-bred an additional five but the results have included
a winner at the Irish Nationals (Owner handled) in 1988, mutliple specialty
wins in the USA and Canada and a Canadian BIS winner with Blacks, Blues, brindles
and harlequins.

SirBlu was established in Connecticut in 1972 combining the names of our first
Male (Sir) and first Female (Blu). Since then, SirBlu has produced numerous
Champions and Obedience Companion Dogs in the United States, South America and
Scandanavia. Over the years SirBlu has combined with some notable kennels such
as Coleridge, Haltmeier, Willowrun, Kappadane and Pinza of Denmark to produce
what we bring into the ring today. SirBlu is committed to providing the absolute
best pure color Blue and Black Champion Great Danes. While we know that this
can be challenging at times, we strive for perfection in temperament, longevity,
health, intelligence and overall quality. SirBlu Dogs and Bitches selected for
breeding and carrying on the line are health checked for Thyroid and Heart and
are OFA for hips at a rating of either Good or Excellent. SirBlu puppies are
warranted against any genetic defects at the time of purchase. While we do not
have puppies often, when we do have puppies, everything goes into insuring they
are well rounded, happy puppies with excellent temperaments. Puppies, whether
for pet or show are sold on a contract basis only. While the contracts for show
or pet will differ (Pet puppies are released on a spay/neuter contract with
a limited registration only), one clause remains the same in all SirBlu contracts.
That clause states: "That at any time during this puppys life, if
you decide you cannot keep the dog or do not want the dog, that you will contact
SirBlu immediately and we will either take possession of the dog or bitch or
approve a new home if you have selected one. We reserve the right to take possession
of the dog upon being contacted by you regardless of the age of the dog."The
goal of SirBlu is to produce a high quality Great Dane that will be a credit
to the breed. Our motto is:Every generation just gets better!

wonderful. "Indy" was 1st place GDCA Veteran Dog 6-8yrs in 2001, and

believe in striving to breed for health, longevity and

I've been involved in dogs for over 20 years. Starting out in Siberians and
exploring the obedience aspect with them. I am still a very strong believer
in obedience training and do private training, as well as pet sitting and boarding.
I have also been involved in Dane and Airedale rescue. We at Celtic Danes strive
to breed Great Danes that conform to the AKC standard along with added emphasis
on elegance, temperament and longevity. We do health checks on hips, eyes and
hearts and sell all puppys under health guarantees. Our Danes are family raised

when Jerry was in his senior year of college and after he graduated I purchased
our first puppy for his birthday. Even though that puppy was very unhealthy
we have been in love with the breed ever since. We have owned great danes for
thirty years but only started breeding in 1981. We have breed 13 litters in
22 years and out of those litters produced 11 champions, 5 of which where Specialty
winners. Our greatest accomplishment was breeding Gala, Winners Bitch at the
2002 Nationals but we are also very proud when some of our puppy people call
back after ten years and want another puppy. We do health checks on our breeding
animals and also guarantee on our puppies. We breed blue and black great danes.Jerry
